Iowa ASCD Curriculum Leadership Academy
The next Curriculum Leadership Academy will be held April 16 and 17, 2008 at the Hilton Garden Inn, Urbandale.

Purpose

The purpose of the Iowa ASCD Curriculum Leadership Academy is to provide learning opportunities for individuals engaged in curriculum leadership.

Schedule

The academy meets from 9:00 - 4:00 p.m. each day.

  • Professional growth and responsibility
  • Curriculum leadership
  • Technical aspects

Cost

The two-day academy cost is $295. This includes lunch and breaks each day and a notebook of materials.

Credit

One hour of certificate renewal credit or one hour of Drake University credit.

Books Available

At each Curriculum Leadership Academy, a bookstore of ASCD books will be available for purchase.

Audience

The academy is open to all curriculum leaders including superintendents, principals, lead teachers, department heads, new curriculum directors, and any other educators with curriculum leadership responsibilities.

Mentors

Each academy member will be provided a mentor on request. Experienced curriculum leaders will have the opportunity to serve as mentors.

Experience Level

The academies are intended to serve curriculum leaders with a variety of experience levels, but those just beginning in such positions will find the experience most valuable.

Continuation

The Iowa ASCD Curriculum Leadership Academy is based on a three-year curriculum and began in May 2003, continuing each spring. In addition, there is a a day set aside for "crucial conversations"for those who have completed the three-year curriculum and others who wish to attend.
